Hey there! It’s Lisa, the Busy af Mom. Christmas break is fast approaching so I figured I’d put together a list of activities to do with the kids to help keep “I’m bored” at a minumum…after Christmas they can play with and use all the cool new things they got…but in the meantime…
1. Decorate cookies: Spend a day baking and decorating cookies with the kids. Let them get creative with icing, sprinkles, and various toppings.
2. Movie marathon: Have a movie marathon with classic Christmas films. Snuggle up with blankets and hot cocoa while enjoying movies like “Home Alone,” “Elf,” or “The Polar Express.”
3. Build a gingerbread house: Get a gingerbread house kit or make one from scratch. Let the kids decorate it with icing, candies, and other edible decorations.
4. Go ice skating: Take the kids to a local ice skating rink and enjoy some winter fun. Help them learn to skate or have a friendly competition.
5. Have a scavenger hunt: Create a Christmas-themed scavenger hunt around the house or in the neighborhood. Hide small gifts or clues that lead to a bigger surprise.
6. Make homemade ornaments: Get crafty and make homemade ornaments with the kids. Use materials like clay, popsicle sticks, or salt dough to create unique decorations for the Christmas tree.
7. Visit a local holiday event: Check out local events like Christmas markets, light displays, or holiday parades. It’s a great way to get into the festive spirit and create lasting memories.
8. Have a game night: Gather the family for a fun game night. Play board games, card games, or even video games that everyone can enjoy together.
9. Go on a winter nature walk: Bundle up and take a walk in a nearby park or nature reserve. Look for signs of winter wildlife, collect pinecones, or simply enjoy the beauty of nature during the holiday season.
10. Volunteer together: Teach kids the importance of giving back by volunteering at a local charity or food bank. Help them understand the joy of helping others during the holiday season.
Remember, the most important thing is to spend quality time together and create amazing memories. I hope this list can help spark some ideas. Have a wonderful Christmas time wth the kids!
