ROCKFORD — The weekly Rockford Midtown Market has been called off this Thursday due to the dangerous heat wave enveloping the area.
The farmers market, which runs 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Thursday through Sept. 28, will return Thursday, Aug. 31 in the Rockford Public Schools administration building parking lot, 501 Seventh St.
“Please stay hydrated, and check up on your neighbors, friends, and families during the forecasted high-heat spell,” the market wrote on social media.

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning from 11 a.m. Wednesday until 8 p.m. Thursday. Dangerously hot conditions are expected with heat index values of up to 115 degrees.
“Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors,” the weather service wrote in its warning. “Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.”
