ROCKFORD — The Winnebago County Democratic Central Committee reelected Charlie Laskonis this week to continue serving as the organization’s chairperson.
Laskonis, who has served as chairperson for more than a decade, was reelected Wednesday at the county convention. He also serves as a vice president of the Illinois Democratic County Chairs Association.
“I am proud of what we have accomplished in Winnebago County. Just in my last term, we gained a supermajority on the City Council and have some great candidates for County Board,” Laskonis said. “We’re looking to flip some seats there this November.”

Ten of the 14 aldermen on Rockford City Council are Democrats, while 13 of the 20 Winnebago County Board members are Republicans.
County conventions were held all over the state Wednesday, as required by law for both parties. The committees also select executive committee members.
