Here are today’s Nerd News! headlines:
It’s no secret that David Ayer wasn’t a fan of the theatrical cut of 2016’s “Suicide Squad,” which was roundly panned by fans & critics alike. With the upcoming release of James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” getting a more positive reception, it’s led Ayer to assert his desire to have a director’s cut of his film…you know…just like was Zack Snyder got for “Justice League.” In a three-page Twitter statement, Ayer asserts there was a story in his film that was never allowed to be told which had more depth, emotion, and power than what ended up on the screen. He also acknowledges that that director’s cut will likely never happen and is nothing but encouraging and supportive of Gunn’s success on his film.
Dave Bautista is hyping up “Knives Out 2,” which hits theaters next Summer. Speaking with “People” magazine from the set in Greece, the former WWE star says the sequel is even better than the original.
The second installment of Rian Johnson’s whodunit is as star-studded as the last, with Janelle Monae, Kate Hudson, Leslie Odom Jr, Edward Norton and Kathryn Hahn also in the cast. Bautista says he’s “mesmerized” by his co-stars’ performances, and he’s certain fans will be, too.
“I’m always afraid to say that because I don’t want anybody to get offended saying that we’re going to be better, but I really do think this,” he adds. “I think the characters in this are even more quirky [and colorful] than the first one.”
Ryan Reynolds has dropped another hilarious promo for his new movie “Free Guy” now that tickets are officially on sale. He goes “next level” in the new spot, where he reflects on his 2021 “year of growth… hormones.” The actor sports a totally-not-edited bodybuilder physique in the promo, and jokes that his kid was born “fully grown with shoes on.”
