‘I was There – An Experience in Photography’

What: 317 Art Collaborative will hold an opening night reception for Brian Shanley’s solo exhibition “I Was There – An Experience in Photography.” Special guest Martin Atkins, known for his drumming with post-punk and industrial acts including Public Image Ltd., Ministry and Nine Inch Nails, is the special guest for opening night.

Shanley is best known for his visual work with Wax Trax! Records. He was responsible for many of the earliest photos, LP artwork and store ads in the early years of Wax Trax in Chicago. The exhibit showcases that work and his seminal band photographs shot before settling in at the record label’s art department.

When: 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1 (Spoken word and DJ set by Martin Atkins at 7:30 p.m.)
