A program that brings veterans on a trip to Washington, D.C., to visit various war memorials plans to make its comeback in 2022.
Vets Roll, which was conceived in February 2010 by the owners of Finnegan’s RV Center, was temporarily halted the past two years because of the coronavirus pandemic.
“We’re in constant communication with hotels, the bus company, the restaurants and whatnot, for COVID policies,” said Mark Finnegan, president of Vets Roll, on This Week in the Stateline with Steve Summers. “It’s just looking more and more promising all the time.”

This year’s trip is planned for May 22-25. The four-day trip is provided free of charge. Veterans must have been in active duty before the end of 1966 to qualify.
Finnegan lamented the fact that several veterans scheduled to go on the trip never got the chance because of the coronavirus cancellations.
“Unfortunately, we’ve seen over 30 of them that we know of that were on the wait list to go to D.C. that are no longer with us,” Finnegan said. “It’s heartbreaking to think that they’re no longer there, and it’s because of COVID we weren’t able to take them on that trip of a lifetime.”
