B103 Rockford wins IBA Silver Dome Award

Rockford radio station b103 came home with a big win while attending the Illinois Broadcasters Association Silver Dome awards on Oct. 24 in Bloomington.
B103 came out on top in the Best Radio Station Self-promotion category. The station submitted material from its on-air contest "Taylor'd Keyword of the Day." The listener who was engaged throughout the week and entered the highest number of keywords online scored a pair of tickets to a much-anticipated Taylor Swift show at Soldier Field in Chicago in June.
Lisa Tyler, b103 brand manager, accepted the award on behalf of the station and commented, "We were so honored to win. The b103 team wanted to make the contest unique and fun and wanted to make sure a true 'Swiftie' came away the winner, and that's what happened."
Named after the iconic dome on the Illinois State Capitol, the Silver Dome Awards recognize the “Best of the Best” in Illinois broadcasting. Entries are judged by markets by out-of-state professional broadcasters in similar size markets.

Could the Stateline Face a Cookie Shortage this Christmas?

There may be a shortage of cookies on the shelves this holiday season. Campbell’s Soup Company, which makes cookies under the Pepperidge Farms brand, warned that it is facing a shortage ahead of its busiest season. The shortage is being blamed on an increase in demand and a labor shortage, both of which are results of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a report compiled by Top Data, American cookie consumption has increased by 25 percent since the start of the pandemic, with 1 in 5 Americans eating three or more cookies per day.
Food shortages have been happening all year due to the ongoing pandemic, including a meat shortage that affected major producers like Tyson Foods and Smithfield Foods.
