ROCKFORD — Hard Rock Casino Rockford on Thursday presented its monthly donation toward a local charitable group to The Arc of Winnebago, Boone and Ogle Counties.
The casino hands over a donation on a guitar-shaped oversized check each month to a local nonprofit. The money comes from unused vouchers that patrons place in a donation box. The casino provides additional funds for an even $2,000 gift each month.
That’s just a portion of the Hard Rock’s philanthropic giving. So far this year, Hard Rock Casino Rockford has given $620,000 to local nonprofits.
“A big part of our mission is to love all, serve all. Having the opportunity to donate to 501(c)3s throughout the year aligns us with our mission,” said Steve Platcow, director of marketing for Hard Rock. “Particularly this time of year it warms our heart.”
Platcow said The Arc is “a wonderful group that enriches the community for all of us.”
The nonprofit provides a variety of home-based support services, assistance, advocacy and programs to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities live as independently as possible.
“It means the world to us when people choose to donate because then we know they’re vested in helping people with disabilities in the community staying in the world, living a life of belonging,” said Amy Newell, executive director of The Arc.
