ROCKFORD — Winnebago County Clerk & Recorder Lori Gummow was recognized last week with the Commitment to Service Award for her dedication and commitment to public service.
The award was presented Thursday at the American Lombardi Club during a special ceremony recognizing county clerks and recorders from across the region. It was presided over by Putnam County Clerk & Recorder Tina Dolder, who is Zone IV president of the Illinois Association of County Clerks, and 17th Judicial Circuit Court Associate Judge Donna Honzel.
“It is a privilege to recognize Clerk Gummow for her unwavering service and leadership,” Dolder said in a news release. “Her work is a true reflection of the values this award represents.”
Gummow has served as Winnebago County’s clerk and recorder since 2018. She oversaw the merger of the clerk and recorder’s offices in December 2020 after 73% of voters approved the combination in a March 2018 referendum. The move was designed to increase efficiency and save taxpayers dollars. Gummow has also led initiatives to modernize the clerk’s record systems and improve voter access.
The Commitment to Service Award honors clerks and recorders who “exemplify integrity, leadership, and dedication in serving their constituents,” according to a news release. “Recipients are recognized not only for the essential duties of recordkeeping and elections administration, but also for their commitment
to safeguarding democracy and strengthening public trust.”
