ROCKFORD — A locally owned resale and consignment shop that wants to help families find affordable clothing and other merchandise has opened along the city’s Miracle Mile.
Time After Time Resale and Consignment Shoppe, 4774 E. State St., will celebrate its ribbon-cutting with Miracle Mile Rockford at 1 p.m. on Friday. The shop is at the corner of State and Flintridge Drive on the back side of the building that includes Happy Wok.
Owner Michelle Curington hopes to give shoppers an affordable and eco-friendly way to refresh their wardrobes and home decor. Time After Time has a variety of clothing from formal wear to sports jerseys with both vintage and modern styles. There are also a variety of housewares, small furniture items, jewelry, vintage watches, shoes, body soaps and bath products, and home accents from nearly 50 local consigners.
“I’ve got a little bit of everything. … For the whole family, I want to be able to provide what they need,” Curington told the Rock River Current. “Times are hard for people to be able to go buy brand new clothes. I try to keep my prices at a decent point for people.”
Time After Time accepts items in like-new condition with a 50/50 split with consigners on sold items. She said up to 30 items of clothing can be brought in per visit.
The shop started with its soft opening on June 10 and has already gained praise for its wide variety of quality items, according to Miracle Mile, an advocacy group for businesses on East State Street from roughly Rockford University to UW Health SwedishAmerican.

“We’re so excited to welcome Time After Time to the Miracle Mile,” Amy Mueller Hoening, Miracle Mile’s executive director, said in a news release. “This shop perfectly reflects the spirit of our district — creative, community-minded, and committed to making Rockford a great place to live, work, and shop.”
Curington said the business was built out of her own passion for thrift shopping.
“Since I was a little girl — my grandma and my mom — we’ve always went thrifting,” she said. “I worked all my life and raised my boys. I’m like, you know what it’s time for me to do my dream. So that’s why I opened this up.”
