ROCKFORD — A new specialty store that promises to provide premium cigars and other tobacco products is coming to a business strip across the street from AMC Rockford 16.
Premium Cigar & Vape, 109 N. Showplace Drive, suite 133, is beginning remodeling work soon with a goal to open in approximately two months. The business is located next to Proper on State in space that was most recently home to a Buckbee Weed Co. location.
The shop, which is owned by Mustafa Naji and Sahar Barwaree, is billed as an upscale destination for cigar enthusiasts and casual customers alike. It will feature a curated selection of premium cigars, cigar accessories and high-quality vape products “designed for those who appreciate craftsmanship, relaxation and sophistication,” according to information shared by the owners through the Greater Rockford Arab Chamber of Commerce.
“Our vision was to create a place that goes beyond a simple store,” a statement from the ownership team sent through the chamber reads. “We’re offering Rockford something truly unique: a refined, premium experience that caters to cigar lovers and those looking for quality products in a polished setting.”
City Council members voted 8-4 last week to approve the license for tobacco sales. Aldermen Chad Tuneberg, Gabrielle Torina, Aprel Prunty and Frank Beach had voted against.
Aside from a handpicked selection of premium cigars, the shop will also have a variety of accessories for enthusiasts and collectors as well as vape options for modern tastes, the group said.
“With its prime location on East State Street, across from Showplace 16, Premium Cigar & Vape is set to become a new staple in Rockford’s retail scene — providing not only products but an atmosphere that reflects quality and class,” the group said in information provided to the Rock River Current.
More details on a grand opening will be announced as progress on remodeling continues.
