ROCKFORD — The Illinois Lottery is hyping up the largest Powerball jackpot in over a year by bringing its ticket grab machine to the city on Friday.

The Powerball Ticket Grab Challenge will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Valli Produce, 5880 E. State St. The challenge puts you inside a phone booth-sized machine that circulates tickets through the air, giving you just a few short seconds to grab as many as you can.

A total of 700 Powerball tickets could be snatched up for free during the event.

The challenge is being held ahead of Saturday’s drawing for $700 million.

Powerball tickets are $2 each and available at more than 7,000 retail locations. Players have the option to add the Power Play for an additional $1, which gives the chance to multiply non-jackpot prizes.
