ROCKFORD — Locally owned fashion retailer Roxy Carmichael Boutique will begin to liquidate its inventory as the owner prepares to retire.

Christine LaMantia, who has owned the business since 2018, made the announcement Thursday on Facebook. She said the business is for sale if anyone wants to carry on the company’s legacy.

The shop has been located at 1639 N. Alpine Road, suite 1617A, in the Edgebrook Shopping Center since mid-2023. Before that, it was at 310 N. Alpine Road.

“After so many years of pouring my heart, soul, and dreams into Roxy Carmichael Boutique, I’ve made the bittersweet decision to begin a new season of life,” LaMantia wrote on Facebook. “This little shop has been a piece of my heart and a special part of our community. I’m endlessly grateful for every single one of you who has shopped, supported, and believed in me over the years.”

LaMantia wasn’t immediately able to be reached after the announcement was posted.

A closing date hasn’t been announced.

“In the meantime, inventory liquidation has begun,” LaMantia wrote Thursday night. “EVERYTHING in the store is on sale, including new arrivals. Fixtures, mannequins, decor, all retail supplies are also for sale — EVERYTHING.”

Roxy Carmichael was opened in 2007 by sisters Debbie Aiello and Katherine Mitchel, who had a vision to provide unique merchandise that inspired women to be themselves. LaMantia carried that on when she took over the retailer 11 years later.

“Though it’s hard to say goodbye, I trust that beautiful things will bloom from this moment,” she wrote. “Come shop one last time, share a hug, and help celebrate all that this place has meant.”
