Ted O’Donnell and Tom Luepkes, co-chairman of the Rockford 4th of July Civic Committee, join Steve Summers to talk about the changes for this year’s fireworks display.
The fireworks will blast off this year from a location not used in about 25 years: the Jefferson Street bridge.
“Basically we’re going old school for Rockford,” O’Donnell said. “We’re going to go back to the old way of the spectacle in the sky going off the Jefferson Street bridge.”
The festivities also move from Davis Park to Water Street, as well as inside Joe Marino Park and under the Rockford City Market pavilion.
The fireworks are paid for through donations with no city tax dollars used. You can donate HERE.
