ROCKFORD — An international dessert chain focused on gourmet treats with 100% Belgian chocolate including crepes, waffles, cake and gelato has teased plans to open its first Rockford location.
Melt n Dip has a digital coming soon sign rotating at Perryville Commons, a retail shopping center along Perryville Road between Mill Road Fincham Drive. The sign has been on display for several weeks, rotating along with other businesses in the shopping center.
So far, however, that’s all the company is willing to say about its plans to open here.
A representative who answered a call at Melt n Dip’s franchising office in Bridgeview said they could not share any information about the plans to open in Rockford. Messages left with other Melt n Dip offices were not returned. First Midwest Group, which owns the nearly 23,000-square-foot shopping center, said it could not provide any information other than what the company was willing to display on the sign.

Melt n Dip has 11 locations, including a handful in Chicagoland, according to its website. There are also shops in Wisconsin, Michigan, Florida and internationally in Canada and Lebanon.
The chain is centered on gourmet desserts such as its banana cinnamon crepe pouch, which is a crepe stuffed with Melt n Dip’s signature cream, banana and cinnamon topped with three kinds of Belgian chocolate: milk, dark and white. There’s also a toasted waffle topped with brownie pieces dipped in three kinds of Belgian chocolate. Or you can get lava cake, damascene-style ice cream, fruits and gelato, and a variety of hot drinks such as Turkish coffee and caramel macchiato.
It’s not clear which available space at Perryville Commons that Melt n Dip plans to inhabit. The shopping center also includes Panera Bread, Chipotle, Thai Hut, Cold Stone Creamery, Almoká Coffee House and Ryusei Ramen and Izakaya, among other businesses.
