ROCKFORD — QuikTrip has opened its newest gas station and truck stop in the city.
The city’s second QuikTrip, 1555 Sandy Hollow Road, also features a QT Kitchen offering an array of food options from grab-and-go items such a as subs and wraps to breakfast sandwiches, flatbreads, pizza, barbecue sandwiches, frozen desserts, specialty drinks and other snacks.
QuikTrip and First Midwest Group, the developer behind the project, cut the ribbon on the new location Thursday at the corner of 11th Street and Sandy Hollow.
“We are honored to welcome this exceptional addition to our community — bringing quality service, modern convenience, and an impressive selection of refreshments and snacks to the area,” First Midwest Group wrote on social media. “We invite you to stop in and experience the newest destination for fuel, food, and friendly service in Rockford.”
The new location features a 5,300-square-foot convenience store, four diesel bays and eight bays dedicated to passenger vehicles. The store is open 24 hours and the kitchen closes at 10 p.m.
It was built on the corner lot in front of the former Kmart, which became the Northern Illinois Food Bank’s new Rockford Neighborhood Market earlier this year.
It opens roughly a year after the first QuikTrip in Rockford, which opened April 11, 2024, at 8070 E. State St. across from Hard Rock Casino Rockford.
QuikTrip was founded in 1958 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and there are more than 1,100 stores across 17 states. It is not to be confused with the similarly named Kwik Trip, which is a chain of convenience stores headquartered in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
