Seasonal yard waste collection restarts in Rockford on March 24

ROCKFORD — Collection of seasonal yard waste such as grass clippings and leaves will restart in the city on March 24.
Rock River Disposal, the city’s waste contractor, will pick up yard waste placed in two-ply compostable paper bags or in 32-gallon or smaller garbage cans clearly marked with a large X. Twigs, branches and other large brush must be placed into bundles no larger than 4-feet long by 2-feet in diameter. Bundles should be tied with string or twine. No bag or bundle can weigh more than 50 pounds. Yard waste should not be mixed with the regular garbage or placed in plastic bags.
Burning yard waste is prohibited in Rockford.
Yard waste shall be placed out for collection at the same time as household waste and recyclables.
