ROCKFORD — Mayor Tom McNamara said he was encouraged to see growing momentum for downtown living in the past year.
That includes the recent opening of the Water Power Lofts in a former foundry at 700 S. Main St. and plans for the Nu State Apartments to open in spring 2025 at Church and Main streets.
The mayor made his comments during a year-in-review interview with Steve Summers on the weekly This Week in the Stateline podcast and radio show.
“You’re talking now, Steve, that we have nearly 500 residential units in downtown Rockford,” McNamara said. “It’s incredibly exciting to see more people living, playing and having fun in downtown Rockford.”
