ROCKFORD — The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office will provide free rides home during New Year’s celebrations again this year.

The annual safe rides initiative is funded by LaMonica Beverages and Hard Rock Casino Rockford.

Sheriff’s deputies will provide rides home from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 4 a.m. Wednesday. Anyone in need of a ride home can call the non-emergency line at 815-282-2600.

Deputies will also be stationed at the casino, 7801 E. State St., to provide rides from its New Year’s celebrations to homes in Winnebago and Boone counties.

Rides will only be given to residences and not another bar or business.
