ROCKFORD — Boylan Central Catholic High School announced on Wednesday that Amy Ott would step down from her role as school president at the end of the academic year.

Ott’s resignation is effective June 30. She was the first president in the school’s history as it transitioned to a president-principal model, and she has held the role since June 2015. The structure was designed to allow the principal to focus on academics while the president worked on strategic goals. Boylan, however, plans to unveil a new organizational model for next year.

“It has been an honor and privilege to serve this incredible community,” Ott said in a statement. “I look forward to working with the diocesan superintendent of schools and Boylan’s leadership team to transition to a new organizational model designed to strengthen all diocesan Catholic high schools.”

Ott said in an email to the Boylan community that she will work with Principal Chris Rozanski to ensure a seamless transition. Rozanski, Boylan’s ninth principal in 60 years, was hired during Ott’s tenure.

“We are deeply grateful for Mrs. Ott’s tireless efforts to uphold and advance Boylan’s mission,” Kim White, diocesan superintendent of Catholic Schools, said in a news release. “Her leadership has contributed greatly to our community, and we wish her every blessing in her future endeavors.”

White said the new model will be implemented at all diocesan Catholic high schools for the 2025-26 school year. Details of this new model will be shared with all school communities in January, White said.

Ott was credited with overseeing the growth of the Boylan Educational Foundation, increasing its assets from $2.8 million to $12 million. She also led the school through the addition of the Bachrodt Center, enhancements to the Vincent E. McGuire Performance Center and upcoming classroom renovations.

Ott’s tenure also brought the creation of an endowed campus minister position, which is intended to strengthen the school’s mission by helping students grow their faith and spiritual lives.

The school also expanded tuition assistance programs to allow more families to access a Boylan education, and it increased available technology to create a 1:1 environment for students.

“While there have been challenges, Boylan continues to thrive as a mission-driven institution,” Ott said. “I am confident in the incredible team here and their dedication to preparing students for the future, grounded in faith and excellence. As I prepare to conclude my time as president, I leave with immense pride in what we have accomplished together and deep gratitude for the Boylan community.”

The Board of Consultors and the diocesan superintendent will now work to determine the next steps for Boylan  in the transition process.
