ROCKFORD — A health care company specializing in sinus, snoring and sleep apnea treatments has opened its first clinic in the Rockford area.
Advent held a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Greater Rockford Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday at its new clinic at 5804 Elaine Drive inside the Cedar Hill professional Park.
The 20-year-old company specializes in in-office treatments using local anesthetic for nasal blockages, sinus issues, snoring and sleep apnea.
“We simply want to get your nasal passages and your sinuses open … allow them to be the open freeway it should be so that you’re able to breathe properly,” said Rick Dietz, president of Advent. “Proper nose breathing leads to better sleep. It leads to better health.”
The company was founded in 2004 by Dr. Madan Kandula and Gwen Kandula in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This is its eighth clinic in Illinois and 26th across four states.
“We are bringing a very valuable and important form of health care to the marketplace,” Dietz said.

The Rockford office is considered a “light clinic,” meaning it is where patients would go for initial exams or follow-up visits after any procedure is performed. If a procedure is necessary, it would be performed at the nearest Advent facility in Schaumburg.
“We want to bring as much of the care locally as we can, and then only ask patients to travel for procedures when they need to,” Dietz said. “That certainly will provide a convenience factor and allow for much less travel for patients out this way.”
The Rockford office is staffed by a nurse practictioner and physician assistants, who work in conjunction with doctors at the company’s Schaumburg office to determine the best course for care.
“If the volume of patients needing to be seen grows and grows and grows it will make sense for us to bring that other service here and turn it into a full-service clinic,” Dietz said.
The in-office procedures, such as balloon sinuplasty or turbinate reduction, are performed under local anesthesia and typically take roughly 10 minutes.
“We understand. We listen. We change lives,” Dr. Kandula said in a statement. “In turn we flip the script on how medical practices operate on a national level and are thrilled to be bringing the most advanced and unintrusive, in-office treatments for nose and throat issues to Rockford’s patients in need.”
Prospective patients can book online at Advent knows.com or by calling 888-938-3838.
