ROCKFORD — A daylong celebration of the Latino community filled Levings Park on Sunday with multiple bands playing, food and a variety of family-friendly activities.

Fiestas Patrias, which loosely translates to national holidays in English, featured Tamborazo Trece De Junio, Herencia Del Rancho, Mariachi Lira de Rockford, and Grupo de Baile Mosaico Cultural. Enjoy energetic performances from La Ultima Banda, Nivel 15, and La Inkonfundible Banda 30/30, with DJ Jose Dj-Dark.

The event was put on with sponsorship from Unscripted with Melissa Santillan, Chavez Mexican Restaurante, Glory to Glory International Ministries, Gambino Realtors and the Rockford Park District.

It was also supported by 5th Ward Alderwoman Gabrielle Torina, 11th Ward Alderman Isidro Barrios, Mayor Tom McNamara, state Rep. Maurice West, state Sen. Steve Stadelman, and the Rockford Regional Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
