ROCKFORD — A convenience store on North Huffman Boulevard has sold a winning Lucky Day Lotto ticket worth $900,000.
The ticket was purchased for the Saturday evening drawing at Stop N Shop, 2501 N. Huffman Blvd.
“The winner came in Sunday morning, scanned the ticket, and gasped and his face turned bright red when he realized he was holding a jackpot-winning ticket,” Raj Patel, store manager at Stop N Shop, said in a news release. “He was ecstatic, of course, they couldn’t believe it. He’s a town local and a regular customer we see a few times a week.”

The ticketed matched all five numbers in the Saturday evening drawing: 8-11-14-33-34. The winner’s name was not released.
“The winner was absolutely thrilled. ‘It’s a nice life-changing amount,’ he told me,” Patel said.
The shop will receive a 1% selling bonus, or $9,000.
More than 29,800 winning tickets were purchased for Saturday’s drawing.
So far this year, more than six million winning Lucky Day Lotto tickets have been sold, with total prizes of more than $34.3 million, according to the Illinois Lottery.
Winners have one year from the date of the winning draw to claim their prize. The Illinois Lottery encourages all winners to write their name on the back of their ticket and keep it in a safe place until they’re ready to claim their prize.
