BELVIDERE — A building that will house three businesses anchored by Dunkin’ is under construction at the corner of Chrysler Drive and Pearl Street off U.S. Highway 20.
The multi-tenant business is being built on the former site of Grandma’s Family Restaurant, 320 Chrysler Drive, which closed in 2020 and was razed to make way for the new businesses.

The goal is to open Dunkin’ by late May or early June, according to Kiran Kayastha, the owner of the property and franchise owner of the Dunkin’. Kayastha also owns the Dunkin’ inside the Walmart on Gateway Center Drive.
Kayastha said he is in discussions with other restaurant franchises to fill the remaining two spaces, but nothing can be announced yet. The building totals 4,880 square feet.
The plan has been in the works since summer 2022, when City Council members approved the special-use permit for the project.
