ROCKFORD — A winter storm delivered several inches of thick snow on Friday across the Rockford region.
Nearly 5 inches of snow were measured at the Chicago Rockford International Airport at noon, according to the National Weather Service. The area is expected to see up to three more inches this afternoon and tonight and more scattered snow showers Saturday morning.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning that remains in effect until noon Saturday. Local schools, courts and several other officers were closed due to the weather. Friday’s performance of Disney on Ice was also called off.
We spent the morning capturing photos of the city’s biggest snowfall of 2024 so far, stopping by local landmarks and a couple of neighborhoods.
