Largest 2-year college women’s volleyball tournament in the U.S. returns to Rockford

ROCKFORD — The largest two-year college women’s volleyball tournament in the country returns to Rockford this weekend, bringing teams from 17 states to the city’s downtown.
Roughly 70 teams will compete in the three-day All in Volleyball Opening Weekend Tournament. This is the fourth year of the event and the third time it has taken place in Rockford. The tourney is held at the UW Health Sports Factory, 305 S. Madison St.
The tournament is expected to lead to 700 hotel rooms filled and pump an estimated $506,308 into the local economy, according to the Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.
“Beyond the court, Opening Weekend Volleyball Tournament generates a positive economic ripple throughout the Rockford region,” Lindsay Arellano, vice president of sales and service for the visitors bureau, said in a news release. “We look forward to welcoming all the teams this weekend and know that they will have a memorable experience throughout their time in the Rockford region.”

The tournament format is match play with the winner taking the best of 3 of 5 games. The tournament runs from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
Advanced purchased tickets are $10 per day for ages 12 and older, $5 per day for seniors and children 12 and younger enter free General admission at the door is $13 per day.
