Former Congressman Adam Kinzinger joins CNN as senior political analyst

ROCKFORD — Former U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger, who was a frequent guest on CNN while serving in Congress, will now work for the news corporation as a senior political analyst.

CNN announced the hire on Wednesday.

Kinzinger, a Republican whose 16th District included Rockford, was hired for the role shortly after completing his sixth term in Congress. He did not seek reelection in November.

Kinzinger was one of 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach former President Donald Trump. He also served on the House Select Committee to Investigate the Jan. 6 Attack on the United States Capitol as well as the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

He served in the Air Force before he was elected to Congress. He continues to serve as a pilot in the Air National Guard with the rank of lieutenant colonel.
