ROCKFORD — Snømarket, an annual outdoor winter tradition on the city’s North End, kicked off Friday night as a dusting of snow flurries created a picture-perfect atmosphere.
The three-day festival is held in the parking lot behind The Norwegian, 1402 N. Main St., in Rockford.
You can get specialty hot cocoa with a torch-toasted marshmallow, akvavit in ice cube shot glasses, hot cider and glögg, which is a Swedish infused wine.

There are also sweets such as krumkake and kannelsnurrer, handmade merchandise, holiday karaoke (or Carol-oke), and you can shop at neighboring businesses such as Rooted, Wonderland Sweets and at The Norwegian Artists Lofts. Maze Books and Moon Lab are also on hand Sunday with merchandise and activities.
The event continues from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
