LOVES PARK — When you work with Brandi Morris you can get exposure to the entertainment industry, resources to build your business and access to a co-work space.

What you won’t get is sugarcoating.

Morris has a way of bluntly assessing her clients. It’s a straightforward approach that some are put back by but one she says helps her clients in the long run.

“When people come to me, if they really want to work with me, then that’s what they’re going to get,” Morris said. “They’re going to get the truth. They’re going to get honesty about what it is they have going on, and if they don’t want that then there’s no need to come to me.”

It’s a style Morris found success with working in the entertainment industry in Chicago, New York, Atlanta, and Los Angeles before moving to Rockford with her husband, Shawn.

“Where I come from is where they’re trying to be,” Morris said. “So if they don’t hear it from me, they’re going to hear it eventually if they get where they’re trying to go.”

Now, the self-made entrepreneur has moved her multifaceted business LADIWORKZ to a new home at 6125 N. Second St. in Loves Park. It was previously at Church Street in downtown Rockford.

You can think of LADIWORKZ somewhat as a business incubator. It specializes in starting, building and branding businesses. It offers business seminars and space to share for entrepreneurs just getting started, and it has event space available for rent.

“Whatever resource they may need, in whatever field you may be in,” Morris said.

Last weekend, Morris was in Charlotte leading a women’s empowerment summit.

LADIWORKZ is also the umbrella company for a host of businesses Morris operates. Storm’z Entertainment manages, promotes and helps develop artists, musicians, models and athletes. She also has her own clothing lines of L&B Spoiled Clothing & Co., L&B Collection and Celly’s hats, and she operates Keen Eye Visualz, a production company that had a TV talk show filming in November 2019 before the coronavirus pandemic halted progress.

Morris is a mother of four who grew up on Chicago’s south side and moved here more than a dozen years ago. She said that her experience in the corporate world, and in the cut-throat entertainment industry, showed her how people can be taken advantage of. Showing her clients how to stand up for themselves and recognize their own value is one of her key early lessons.

“It’s a goal for me to teach my clients, or people that I come across, how to have that backbone,” she said.

LADIWORKZ strives to help small businesses grow and find success and longevity. But she wants her clients to be prepared to put in the hard work, too.

“If you’re not going to really work, then there’s no need to come with me,” she said.
