ROCKFORD — Two churches here are partnering to help two families achieve the dream of home ownership.

Providence Baptist Church, 2209 Clifton Ave., and Forest City Church, 1280 S. Alpine Road, announced on Sunday their partnership with Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity to build two houses next year.

The churches made the announcement after dedicating the newly renovated community center owned by Providence Baptist.

“Our two churches have partnered for more than a year to restore the Community Center building owned by Providence Baptist Church, which we dedicated today,” Eric Parks, lead pastor of Forest City Church, said Sunday. “Now our sites are set on joining forces with Habitat for Humanity to provide new homes for families in our community.”

The project will be directed by Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity with work crews from both congregations and many other community volunteers.

“The partnership between the churches has grown out of the deep friendships developed by church leadership,” Bill Martin, senior pastor of Providence Baptist Church, said in a news release. “We believe that we are going to do something so big and so bold that it’s doomed to fail if God is not in it.”

The Rockford community is invited to participate in the project, both through fundraising
and volunteering to do construction work. To learn more and to volunteer, visit forestcitychurch.com.
