ROCKFORD — Miracle Mile Rockford is set to host an outer space-themed movie night with informational tables, refreshments and more.
The latest film in the Movie on the Mile series is “First Man,” a picture about the Apollo 11 mission which will screen on Saturday, Aug. 13.
Rockford astrobiologist Sarah Treadwell will also be at the event with demonstrations, activities and telescopes. Treadwell is also a solar system ambassador for NASA/Jet Propulsion Laboratory and crew journalist for the Mars Desert Research Station.
Collins Aerospace, Forest City Gear and Rockford Area Aerospace Network will have informational tables as well.

Admission to the event is free, but donations to Miracle Mile Rockford are accepted at the door. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
The event begins at 6 p.m., and the movie will begin at dusk in the former Magna parking lot, 3915 E. State St..
Movie on the Mile is funded by the Forward for Fun grant, an initiative passed in the winter to create free events for each of the city’s 14 wards.
