‘I will miss my patients the most’: Belvidere physician retires after 44 years

BELVIDERE — Dr. Anthony Molinari has retired from OSF Medical Group in Belvidere after 44 years as a primary care physician.
A public celebration was held Tuesday at OSF Medical Group in Belvidere, 1954 Gateway Center Dr., to commemorate his years in medicine and his time at OSF HealthCare. Molinari was the chief of staff and a board member at the former St. Joseph Hospital during his time with OSF.
“I will miss my patients the most,” Molinari said in a news release. “I am proud of the 150 big decisions I would make every day to keep my patients safe and well-cared for. I enjoyed the day-to-day routine and will honestly miss Epic and the responsibility that gave me with my patients.”

Molinari was inspired to pursue medicine by his family physician as a child in Chicago. He worked in private practice for many years before joining OSF.
He was also recognized as a role model for coworkers due to his dedication and respect for patients.
“In my two years here, I have learned so much from Dr. Molinari and his encounters with various patients over the years,” Dr. Mirza Ali Khan said. “He treats each patient as an individual.”
His plans for retirement are to relax and enjoy hobbies he was previously too busy for, including hiking, golfing, spending time with family.
“I like to work in the yard, exercise and I enjoy living in an area that allows me to bike, golf and hike,” Molinari said. “I like to read and spend time at the library, but most importantly, I am looking forward to spending more time with my family.”
