ROCKFORD — UW Health has named its Critically Ill COVID-19 Saviors Team as the winner of its annual Dr. Henry C. Anderson Quality Team Award for their care and dedication this year.
The award was presented to the team on Monday by Travis Andersen, CEO of UW Health Northern Illinois, in the Heart Hospital at UW Health SwedishAmerican.
Last week, Katie Mistler was awarded the individual Dr. Henry C. Anderson award for her work as director of the Center for Mental Health and representing qualities that the COVID-19 Saviors Team exemplified collectively.
The team accepting the award was a mixed group of UW Health employees from the Critical Care Unit, Respiratory Therapy and Intensivist Group.
“Our patients, that’s what we’re here for, ultimately,” said Angela Pavlak, a member of the awarded team. “They’re our number one goal, to take care of them.”

The group was chosen for their joint effort and due to the fact that COVID-19 patients had better results at UW Health compared to other hospitals using the same comparison group (Vizient, Inc.), according to a news release from UW Health.
“Despite all of the challenges, this amazing team has continued to provide exceptional care to our patients to facilitate better outcomes. They deserve recognition with the Henry C. Anderson team award,” said Nichole Burfield, manager of the Intensive Care Unit at UW Health SwedishAmerican Hospital.
