Mary’s Market to close Roscoe cafe

ROSCOE — Mary’s Market is closing its cafe on Bluestem Road and will continue to use the space for catering and special events.
Thursday is the last day of business for the cafe at 4866 Bluestem Road, which opened in 2019. All employees of the cafe were offered jobs at different Mary’s Market branches, an employee told the Rock River Current.

“This does NOT affect any scheduled event – as a matter of fact, Mary’s Market Events and Catering team is booking even more,” the company wrote in a Facebook post announcing its closure of the cafe.
Mary’s Market Cafe & Bakery has three other locations in the area: 4431 E. State St., 1659 N. Alpine Road inside the Edgebrook Center and 2636 McFarland Road. The Edgebrook location is temporarily closed.

Mary’s Market previously opted to temporarily close the Edgebrook location, but it said in a Jan. 6 post on Facebook that it planned to reopen by summer.
“Don’t worry – it’s temporary!” the post reads. “We plan to be back open by summer for Music on the Mall.”

Mary’s Market is a combined bakery and cafe founded in 1982. It offers an array of freshly baked breads and bagels, specially designed cakes and other desserts, and an assortment of muffins and other custom creations.
