ROCKFORD — What do you do when there’s fresh snow on the ground? Build a snowman of course!
The Rockford Park District, with support from Collins Aerospace, is hosting a communitywide Rocky the Snowman contest this winter. The contest is part of the district’s Winer Flurry initiative.

Rocky the Bear is the Rockford Park District’s winter mascot. (Photo by Kevin Haas/Rock River Current)The Rockford Park District will select one grand prize winner for the most creative “Rocky the Snowman,” and they will receive a special surprise Rockford Park District gift basket.

Anyone who submits a photo will also be entered into a separate drawing for a chance to win a four-pack of tickets to Snow Park at Alpine Hills valid for the 2022-2023 season. Five winners will be drawn and will be announced after March 1 on the Rockford Park District website and Facebook. You’re also encouraged to post a picture or video of your Rocky the Snowman on your favorite social media site using the hashtag #rpdfun.
The deadline to submit your photo is Sunday, Feb. 27. Snap a photo of your snowman, and submit it to webmaster@rockfordparkdistrict.org.
