ROCKFORD — If you or someone you know is looking for a scholarship opportunity, look no further than the 10th Annual Community Scholarship Fair.

It’s going to be a virtual event this year taking place Dec. 7 on northern Illinois’ one-stop-shop for all things scholarships, scholarshipsni.com/communityfair.  The event is presented in partnership by the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois, Rockford Public Library and the Rock Valley College Foundation.

“This free event, and the Scholarships NI website, are the most comprehensive review of the private
sector scholarships and financial aid available to students in northern Illinois,” Community Foundation Vice President of Programs and Community Investment Sarah Lambert said in a news release. “It is a privilege to partner with other local institutions each year and provide a one-stop-shop opportunity for students and their families.”

This free event connects students and families with more than 20 organizations offering dozens of local scholarships. There will be a variety of scholarships with a wide range of qualifying criteria, including but not limited to financial need, academic excellence, community involvement and extracurricular activities. The scholarships are available for students of all ages, including adults returning to school and those with GEDs, and citizenship status.

“While the costs of higher education rise, many local organizations rise to the occasion by offering
generous scholarships,” Lynn Stainbrook, executive director of Rockford Public Library, said in a news release. “This fair is for persons of all ages seeking an affordable higher education – both teens looking beyond high school and nontraditional students seeking further education later in life.”

As of today, 133 scholarships worth more than $600,000 are included on the site, with more
scholarships and resources added regularly. Local providers who are interested in posting their
scholarship can visit scholarshipsni.com.
