At a press conference Thursday, Governor JB Pritzker announced all Illinoisans 16 years old and up will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in a little less than a month, on April 12th.
There may be other groups of individuals that will be eligible before April 12th. Another announcement by the Governor was the move to a “Dial” phase between Phases 4 and 5. The Dial Phase will require 70% of seniors to be vaccinated with stable health metrics. That number is currently 58%. To move to Phase 5 50% of all residents 16 and up will need to be vaccinated, 28% are currently vaccinated.
The Governor and Dr. Ngozi Ezike also said people need to stay patient and continue wearing masks.
